Hot Ham and Cheese Sliders are a deliciously savory treat. Soft white rolls are layered with American mustard, thinly sliced ham, and Swiss cheese, topped with onion poppyseed butter and baked.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 standard or 24 small soft white rolls
  • 1/3 cup American mustard
  • 350g / 12 oz ham, shaved or thinly sliced
  • 250g / 8 oz Swiss cheese or other melting cheese slices
  • 100g (7 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp American mustard
  • 1 tbsp poppyseeds
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp cooking or kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C / 350°F. Line the bottom of a 23 x 33 cm pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the melted unsalted butter, onion, American mustard, poppyseeds, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
  3. Slice the roll slab horizontally. Spread the base and lid of each roll with 1/3 cup of American mustard. Place the bottom halves in the pan. Layer with ham and Swiss cheese.
  4. Bake uncovered for 10 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
  5. Remove from the oven, place the top halves of the rolls onto the baked bottoms. Pour the prepared onion poppyseed butter over the top.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil. Pierce the intersections where the rolls meet. Bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes.
  8. Cut the sliders while still hot and serve immediately.
