These Valentine’s Day Swirl Cookies are the perfect treat for spreading love with vibrant red and white swirls, buttery flavor, and a delicate sweetness. A fun and festive way to celebrate the occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring (gel food coloring works best)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (or as needed)
  • Sprinkles (optional, for added decoration)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
  2. In one bowl, add the red food coloring and milk, mixing until the dough turns bright red.
  3. Wrap both doughs in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  4. Roll the plain dough and red dough into rectangles. Place the red dough over the plain dough, gently pressing them together. Cut into strips and stack them to create the swirl.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the dough into 1/4-inch thick slices. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden.
  6. Let the cookies cool before serving. Optionally, add sprinkles for extra flair.

Notes

  • Chill the dough for better handling.
  • Use gel food coloring for brighter swirls.
