Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 4 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • red gel food coloring (as needed)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 10-inch bundt pan.
  2. Prepare the filling: Beat cream cheese, butter, and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, flour, and vanilla and mix until smooth. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk oil, eggs, sour cream, milk, vanilla, vinegar, and red food coloring. Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
  5. Pour half the cake batter into the bundt pan. Spoon cream cheese filling over the batter, keeping it about 1 inch from edges. Top with remaining batter and gently swirl.
  6. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool completely in pan before turning out.
  7. Prepare icing: Beat powdered sugar, cream cheese, cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  8. Drizzle icing over cooled cake and serve.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is softened for easy mixing.
  • Use a toothpick to check doneness.
  • Let the cake cool completely for best results.
