1 cup hot coffee

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring or lining with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla to the dry mix and stir until just combined.
Pour in the hot coffee and mix gently until the batter is smooth and thin.
Divide batter evenly into the pans and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
For the frosting, beat butter until creamy, then gradually add cocoa and powdered sugar, alternating with milk or cream until the desired consistency is reached.
Once cakes are cool, frost one layer, top with the second layer, and frost the entire cake.
Let the cake sit for 30 minutes before slicing, or chill for a firmer texture.
