  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or blend)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add olive oil, salt, and flour. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8–10 minutes.
  3. Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  4. Mix softened butter, garlic, herbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle. Spread garlic herb butter evenly and sprinkle with cheese.
  6. Roll tightly into a log and place seam-side down in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
