Delicious Sausage and Sweet Potatoes with Honey Garlic Sauce – A Sweet and Savory One-Pan Meal

  • 1 lb (450 g) smoked sausage or chicken sausage, sliced into ½-inch rounds
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed (about 4 cups)
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 small red onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine sweet potatoes, bell pepper, and onion. Toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Spread on the sheet pan.
  3. Scatter sliced sausage evenly across the pan.
  4. Whisk together honey, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, black pepper, and chili flakes.
  5. Drizzle half the sauce over everything. Roast 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. Drizzle remaining sauce in the last 5 minutes of roasting for a sticky finish.
  7. Let rest a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  • Use turkey sausage, vegan sausage, or sliced chicken breast.
  • Add Brussels sprouts, broccoli, or carrots.
  • Replace honey with maple syrup.
  • Add thyme or rosemary for extra aroma.
  • Use tamari instead of soy sauce for gluten-free.
