Deliciously Fun Reindeer Cupcakes Recipe for the Holidays

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Mini pretzels (antlers)
  • Candy eyes
  • Red or brown chocolate candies (noses)
  • Small chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin.
  2. Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Whisk eggs, oil, milk, and vanilla in another bowl.
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry, mix gently, and add hot water last. Stir until smooth.
  5. Fill liners 2/3 full and bake 16–18 minutes. Cool completely.
  6. Beat butter, add powdered sugar, cocoa, vanilla, and milk until creamy.
  7. Pipe or spread chocolate frosting on cooled cupcakes.
  8. Add pretzel antlers, candy eyes, and red candies for noses.
  9. Use hot water to bloom cocoa for richer flavor.
  10. Let cupcakes cool fully to avoid melting frosting.
  11. Add pretzels last to keep them crunchy.
  12. Chill cupcakes before decorating for firmer frosting.
  13. Decorated cupcakes: refrigerate up to 2 days.
  14. Undecorated cupcakes: store at room temp for 3 days.
  15. Freeze unfrosted cupcakes up to 2 months.
