Ingredients
Scale
4 medium sweet potatoes (about 2 lbs / 900 g), peeled and cubed
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/3 cup whole milk (or preferred milk alternative)
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Optional: pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for added warmth
Instructions
Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into evenly sized chunks for even cooking.
Place in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add salt. Bring to a boil, then simmer 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
Drain the potatoes well and let them rest for a minute to release extra moisture.
In a small pan, melt butter over medium heat. Cook, swirling occasionally, until golden brown and nutty in aroma (4–6 minutes). Remove from heat immediately.
Mash the sweet potatoes in a pot or bowl, gradually adding brown butter and milk until smooth and creamy.
Add salt, pepper, and optional spices like cinnamon or nutmeg to taste.
Transfer to a serving bowl, drizzle with more brown butter, and serve warm.
