Ingredients
Scale
2 pieces of naan bread (whole wheat preferred)
2 tsp olive oil
Pinch of garlic powder
Flaky sea salt and pepper, to taste
4 oz. smoked gouda, freshly grated (apple smoked gouda recommended)
6–8 fresh figs, sliced (combination of green and black mission figs)
1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
Honey, for drizzling
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the naan breads on the sheet. Brush each naan with olive oil, then lightly sprinkle garlic powder, flaky sea salt, and freshly cracked black pepper evenly over them.
Bake the prepared naan breads in the oven for 5 minutes. This step helps to slightly crisp the bread and infuses it with the garlic and olive oil flavors.
Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Evenly distribute the grated smoked gouda over the naan breads. Return them to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and melted to perfection.
Remove the flatbreads from the oven and let them cool for about a minute. Arrange the sliced fresh figs over the melted cheese evenly across both flatbreads. Drizzle honey over the figs and sprinkle fresh thyme leaves, a pinch of flaky sea salt, and freshly cracked black pepper on top for an aromatic finish.
Notes
Use a combination of green and black mission figs for varied flavor.
Apple smoked gouda adds a unique taste.
Adjust honey drizzle according to your sweetness preference.
