  • 1 package Hawaiian dinner rolls (12- or 24-pack)
  • 1012 slices cheddar cheese
  • 68 slices mozzarella or provolone
  • Optional: ½ cup shredded cheese for extra meltiness
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • Pinch of salt
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Caramelized onions
  • Spinach or fresh basil
  • Roasted bell peppers
  • Pickles
  • Seasoned mayo

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the whole sheet of Hawaiian rolls on a cutting board and slice horizontally to create a top and bottom slab.
  2. In a bowl, mix melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, and salt.
  3. Place the bottom slab in a baking dish. Layer cheddar slices, then mozzarella or provolone. Add shredded cheese if desired.
  4. Place the top slab of rolls back on.
  5. Brush the entire top generously with garlic butter.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 12 minutes to melt the cheese.
  7. Remove foil and bake for 6–8 more minutes for a golden top.
  8. Let rest 2 minutes. Slice along roll lines and serve warm.
