Ingredients
Scale
2 cups full-fat milk powder
1 cup all-purpose flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup ghee or oil
1/2 cup water (adjust as needed)
1 cup rose syrup
1 cup sugar
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add water to form a soft, pliable dough. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
Divide the dough into small marble-sized portions. Gently roll each portion into smooth balls, ensuring no cracks.
In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Add rose syrup and simmer gently for 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Heat ghee or oil in a deep pan over medium heat to 320°F-350°F (160°C-175°C).
Fry the dough balls in batches until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
Carefully transfer the fried gulab jamuns to the warm rose syrup.
Let them soak for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Garnish with chopped pistachios or almonds for added crunch.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
For gluten-free gulab jamuns, use almond flour instead of all-purpose flour.
Adjust sugar in the syrup based on your preference.
