Ingredients
Scale
1.75 cups all-purpose flour (Can be replaced with gluten-free flour for a fully gluten-free option)
3 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated (Feel free to use nutritional yeast for a dairy-free version)
0.5 teaspoon baking powder
0.75 teaspoon salt
1.5 teaspoons active dry yeast (Ensure it’s fresh for the best rise)
1 tablespoon honey (Acts as a natural sweetener)
1 cup warm water (Activates the yeast)
3 tablespoons olive oil (Adds moisture to the dough)
1 tablespoon butter (Brushed on for extra flavor)
0.5 teaspoon Italian seasoning
0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
pizza sauce (As needed)
mozzarella cheese, fresh, small balls or slices (Use vegan cheese for a dairy-free option)
basil, fresh
cherry tomatoes, halved
pepperoni, gluten-free if needed (Swap with veggies for a healthier twist)
parmesan cheese, shredded
Instructions
Combine ingredients: In a mixing bowl, stir together the all-purpose flour, parmesan cheese, baking powder, salt, active dry yeast, honey, warm water, and olive oil until a cohesive dough forms.
Knead the dough: Turn the mixture onto a floured surface and knead until smooth, about 5-7 minutes. Then, let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
Preheat your oven: Set your oven to 475°F (245°C) and allow it to fully heat while the dough rises.
Roll out the dough: Once risen, gently punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a heart shape or your desired thickness.
Transfer to baking sheet: Carefully place the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet or pizza stone, ensuring it maintains its heart shape.
Brush the crust: Mix together the melted butter, olive oil, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder, then generously brush this mixture over the crust for extra flavor.
Add toppings: Spread your pizza sauce over the dough and layer on mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, halved cherry tomatoes, pepperoni, and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese as desired.
Bake it up: Slide your pizza into the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
Notes
