Garbage Bread is an easy, savory game day snack made with a rolled pizza dough filled with a hearty mixture of crispy bacon, seasoned ground beef, onions, and melted cheddar cheeses.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 pound chopped bacon
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp steak seasoning
  • 1 ½ cups grated cheddar jack cheese
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 (13.8 ounce) pizza dough

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 425°F to prepare for baking the garbage bread.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-low heat, cook the chopped bacon until it’s crisp. Remove bacon and set aside. Drain most of the grease from the pan, leaving a little for flavor.
  3. On medium-high heat, add the chopped onions and ground beef to the skillet. Cook until onions soften and beef is fully cooked. Drain excess grease from the pan.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low, add the cooked bacon back into the skillet with the meat and onions. Season with steak seasoning and stir in the grated cheddar jack cheese. Continue stirring until cheese is melted and mixture is well combined. Remove from heat.
  5. Roll out the pizza dough on a baking sheet to form approximately a 15×10 inch rectangle.
  6. Spread the meat and cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving about an inch border around the edges. Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese on top of the mixture.
  7. Starting from the long side, carefully roll the dough up like a jelly roll. Pinch the edges to seal the crust tightly and prevent leaking during baking.
  8. Place the rolled dough seam-side down on the baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Let the garbage bread cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with your choice of special sauce or dip.
