1 cup cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 large egg
3/4 cup milk
6 hot dogs, cut into 1 to 1.5-inch pieces
Oil for frying (about 3 cups)
Instructions
Cut hot dogs into 1 to 1.5-inch pieces and pat them dry.
In a large bowl, whisk cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
In another bowl, beat the egg and milk together, then stir into the dry mix until smooth.
Heat oil in a heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
Skewer a hot dog piece, dip into the batter to coat fully.
Fry 4–5 at a time until golden, about 2–3 minutes.
