  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Gel food coloring (pastel shades)
  • Sprinkles
  • Sanding sugar
  • Mini candy decorations
  • Edible glitter

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in egg and vanilla extract until smooth and fully incorporated.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into Easter shapes.
  7. Place on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake 8–10 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely.
  8. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Divide and tint with gel food coloring.
  9. Spread or pipe icing onto cooled cookies. Add sprinkles while icing is wet.
  10. Allow icing to harden completely before stacking or packaging.
