Ingredients

  • Firm, Sweet-Tart Apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala)
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • A Pinch of Salt
  • Cooking Spray or Light Oil (Avocado oil spray or light olive oil)

Instructions

  1. Wash your apples thoroughly. Peeling is optional, but recommended for a tender interior.
  2. Core your apples using an apple corer or by cutting around the core.
  3. Slice the apples into 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick slices, then cut those slices into fry-like sticks.
  4. Transfer the apple sticks to a medium-sized bowl.
  5. In a separate small bowl, combine granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until well combined. If using flour, add it to this mixture and whisk until no lumps remain.
  6. Sprinkle the dry coating mixture over the apple sticks in the bowl and gently toss until evenly coated.
  7. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  8. Lightly spray the bottom of your preheated air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  9. Arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray the tops with cooking oil.
  10. Air fry for 8-15 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the fries halfway through cooking.
  11. Carefully remove the crispy apple fries from the air fryer and serve warm.

Notes
