- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish and press in the pie crust. Let a store-bought crust thaw before handling.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in flour and salt. Stir just until combined—do not overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips and nuts using a spatula. Distribute evenly.
- Spoon the dough into the prepared crust and smooth it out evenly.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center has a slight jiggle. Cover crust edges with foil if needed.
- Let cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing to allow the filling to set.
Notes
- Serve warm for a gooey texture.
- Pair with ice cream for an extra treat.
