Caramel Apple Cream Cheese Crescent Ring – A Delicious Fall Treat

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well), peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (to thicken the filling)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) crescent roll dough
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing the dough)
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Stir the mixture and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the apples are softened and the sugar has melted into a caramelized sauce. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Beat with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy. Set the cream cheese filling aside.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the crescent dough and arrange the triangles in a circle on a baking sheet, leaving a small gap in the center. Press the dough to form a ring shape, overlapping the edges slightly. Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Spoon the caramelized apple mixture evenly over the cream cheese filling, then fold the edges of the dough over the filling to form a ring. Gently press the edges together to seal the ring. Brush the top with melted butter for a golden finish.
  5. Bake the crescent ring in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes.
  6. Drizzle the top of the warm crescent ring with caramel sauce and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Slice into wedges and serve warm.
