Delicious Apple Upside Down Cake That’ll Wow Your Guests

Ingredients

  • 0.25 cups butter (melted)
  • 0.5 cups light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups sliced apples (your favorite variety)
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cups butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cups whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt ¼ cup of butter in an 8-inch cake pan by placing it in the preheating oven.
  3. Whisk together 1 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder, and ¼ teaspoon of salt in a medium bowl.
  4. Cream ½ cup of room-temperature butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl.
  5. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 2 large eggs to the butter and sugar mixture; beat well.
  6. Mix in ½ cup of whole milk just until combined.
  7. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, beating just until blended.
  8. Remove the cake pan from the oven.
  9. Stir together ½ cup of packed light brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon into the melted butter in the pan.
  10. Arrange 2 cups of sliced apples onto the brown sugar mixture.
  11. Spoon the cake batter over the apple mixture.
  12. Bake for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  13. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a cake plate.
  14. Slice and serve once it has cooled.
