Ingredients
Scale
1 lb ground beef
1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 onion, chopped
2 tbsp olive oil
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tbsp BBQ sauce
1 tbsp mustard
1–2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp garlic, minced
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika
Instructions
Preheat oven and bake frozen tater tots according to package directions until golden and crispy.
Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
Add ground beef and chopped onion; cook for 6-8 minutes, breaking up the beef until browned.
Drain excess grease from the skillet.
Stir in minced garlic, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and paprika. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Mix in tomato sauce, ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.
Arrange the crispy tater tots in a single layer over the beef mixture in the skillet.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the tater tots.
Broil for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the skillet rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider using smoked paprika or adding diced bell peppers with the onion.
You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
Serve with a side salad to balance the richness of the Tater Tot Sloppy Joe Skillet.
To make the tater tots extra crispy, bake them separately on a sheet pan before adding them to the skillet.
