Red Velvet Valentine’s Day Cinnamon Rolls are soft, fluffy, cocoa-infused rolls with a vibrant red hue, swirled with cinnamon-sugar filling and topped with cream cheese frosting. Perfect for Valentine’s breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 45°C)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons red gel food coloring
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons milk (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Mix warm milk and sugar, sprinkle yeast on top, and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, cocoa powder, food coloring, flour, and salt. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover and let dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled.
  4. Mix butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle, spread filling evenly, then roll tightly into a log.
  6. Slice into 12 equal rolls and place in a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until set.
  9. Beat frosting ingredients until smooth and spread over warm rolls.
