Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion and minced garlic. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Add the marinara sauce and crushed tomatoes to the skillet with the beef mixture. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, sour cream, and softened cream cheese until smooth. This creates the creamy filling for your Million Dollar Ravioli Casserole.
  5. Layer the ingredients in the prepared baking dish: start with a layer of the meat sauce, followed by the frozen cheese ravioli, then spread the ricotta cheese mixture evenly. Sprinkle with some mozzarella cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers as needed, ending with a final layer of meat sauce.
  7. Top the casserole with the remaining mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning.
  8. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is golden brown.
  10. Let the Million Dollar Ravioli Casserole cool for a few minutes before garnishing with fresh parsley, if desired, and serving warm.

Notes

  • Drain the ground beef thoroughly to prevent a greasy casserole.
  • Start with a layer of sauce at the bottom of the dish to prevent the ravioli from sticking.
  • Soften the cream cheese at room temperature for easier mixing of the filling.
  • Cover the casserole while baking initially to prevent the cheese from burning before the center is heated through.
  • Allow the casserole to rest for 10 minutes before serving for cleaner slices.
  • You can prepare this Million Dollar Ravioli Casserole up to 24 hours in advance. Cover and refrigerate.
  • To freeze, assemble the casserole without baking, wrap tightly, and freeze for up to 3 months. Bake from frozen, adding extra cooking time.
  • Reheat leftovers in the microwave or in a 350°F oven until heated through.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
