A comforting and versatile ground turkey pasta dish, perfect for any occasion. This easy recipe is a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 pound pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Red pepper flakes, grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  5. Pour in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Reduce heat and let the sauce simmer for at least 10 minutes, allowing flavors to meld. You can simmer longer for a richer flavor.
  7. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to combine.
  8. Serve the ground turkey pasta hot. Garnish with optional red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

  • For a creamier ground turkey pasta, stir in a splash of heavy cream or a dollop of cream cheese into the sauce before adding the pasta.
  • Add your favorite vegetables like bell peppers, zucchini, or spinach to the sauce for a healthier ground turkey pasta primavera.
  • This ground turkey and pasta dish can be made ahead and reheated.
  • Consider a turkey pasta bake recipe by transferring the mixture to a baking dish, topping with cheese, and baking until bubbly.
