Ingredients
Scale
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup milk
¼ cup caramel sauce
½ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Alternately add the dry ingredients and the milk to the wet ingredients, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Gently fold in the caramel sauce, creating swirls throughout the batter for a beautiful caramel cloud cake effect.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. This ensures your caramel cloud cake is perfectly baked.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, whisk together the powdered sugar and a tablespoon of caramel sauce (or milk) to create a glaze. Drizzle over the fluffy caramel cake.
Notes
For an even more intense caramel flavor, use caramel bits in the batter.
Ensure your ingredients are at room temperature for the best cake texture.
